TODAY:
-Chapter 5 discussion questions were due.
-We continued our discussion of Unit 2.  Our discussion focused on the definition of sport & the difference between sport, play, & spectacle.

HOMEWORK:
-Read the essay by Professor Ley that I handed out for class next Wednesday.
-There are no new discussion questions due for next Wednesday's class.
-There is no class on Friday.  Enjoy Fall Break!  I will see you next Wednesday.

-We continued our discussion of Chapter 2.  We discussed the difference between real & passive leisure, and the reasons why most Americans actually have more free time than they think.

-Read textbook Chapter 3 & answer the following Discussion Questions:
1) What are the main purposes & benefits of studying leisure history?
2) Choose 3 factors that influenced the development of the recreation movement in the 20th century, and be ready to discuss them in class.
3) Define "urbanization."
4) What are "immoral" forms of commercial recreation?
5) What are some factors that will influence the development of the recreation movement in the 21st century?  How will these factors influence the recreation movement?
