TUESDAY 10/9

SR201:
Today: We opened class discussing what, if anything, you would have done differently if you were the Chicago Marathon event manager. Read this. We then moved into a discussion on the first half of Chapter 6. We used Exercises 6.1 & 6.2 as a basis of our discussion and focused on 2 main discussion points:
1) The benefits of leisure planning & goal setting.
2) The 3 types of leisure goals (short term, long term, ultimate).

Homework:
-Read and be ready to discuss the second half of textbook Chapter 6.
-Complete a Personal Life Pattern (Chapter 6).
-Read and be ready to discuss Into The Wild Chapters 7 & 8.
-Quiz #4 (see study guide below).
-Start completing your Daily Inventory due next Tuesday.

SR368:
Today: We opened class discussing what, if anything, you would have done differently if you were the Even Manager for the Chicago Marathon. Read this. We then discussed Chapter 5 which focuses on the Programming & Scheduling Process. We divided into groups and discussed the 5 common program approaches:
1) Programming by Objectives
2) Programming by Desires of the Participants
3) Programming by Perceived Needs of the Participant
4) Programming Cafeteria-Style
5) Programming by External Requirements

Homework: Study for Quiz #5 (see study guide below). After the quiz we will be taking a facilities tour on campus.
