-Drucker Chapter 2 discussion questions were due.
-We finished Drucker Chapter 1. We discussed the 5th front of the Silent Revolution & knowledge workers.
-We began Drucker Chapter 2. We discussed what companies, today, do a great job at satisfying their customers' needs.

HOMEWORK:
-None, other than to review all of the Drucker Chapter 2 discussion questions.

TODAY:
-You should have read the Sports Business Journal articles and answered the discussion questions.
-We talked about the grading of this course.
-We watched the ESPN SportsCentury clips and you were to answer the question: "Why are sports so popular in America?"
-Next Monday we will discuss the above question as well as the 2 articles, and begin a discussion of textbook Chapter 1.

HOMEWORK:
Due Friday:
1) Answer (anonymously) the following round table discussion question:
"What is one thing you would change about FPU? Why?"

Due Monday:
1) Develop two lists:
A) 5 sports events/games/moments/athletes that have personal meaning to you as a spectator. Why?
B) 5 sports events/games/moments/athletes that transcended the sports world and impacted (positive or negative) society as a whole. Why?
2) Read textbook Chapter 1 and answer the following Discussion Questions:
A) Define: sociology, social world, culture, social interaction, social structure.
B) Do you agree with the precise definition of "sports"? Why or why not?
C) Sports involve a balance between the elements of play & spectacle. Explain the differences between play & spectacle.
D) What are the differences between the sociology and psychology of sport?
E) Define ideologies.
