TODAY: Good discussion today. We began discussion of Chapter 1 in the textbook. We defined the terms leisure & non-leisure, work, and personal care. We said that leisure is defined as free, unobligated time. Whereas work is defined as obligated time that involves constraint/commitment whether it is enjoyable or unenjoyable. Personal care is time devoted to the maintenance of an individuals well-being such as eating sleeping, & showering. An activity is categorized depending on the motivation for the activity. Sleep for personal care is a non-leisure activity but napping is a leisure activity. Working out for exercise is a leisure activity but working out because you are a part of an athletic team is a non-leisure activity.
