TODAY:
-We discussed Chapter 4. Our discussion focused on participation rates of active forms of leisure versus sedentary activities, sex as a leisure activity, recreation patterns of college students, & leisure participation patterns of women.

HOMEWORK:
-You should read Into The Wild through Chapter 7.
-Quiz #4: Textbook Chapter 4, Into The Wild Chapters 6 & 7.

STUDY GUIDE:
-Be able to identify the most common uses of free time by college students according to unscientific research conducted by the authors.
-3 factors that restrict the freedom of women with respect to women.
-The 6 categories of careers that exist in the leisure services field.
-Be able to identify the 5 categories within the area of commercial recreation.

We discussed: the definition of motivation & needs, the difference between content & process theories of motivation, Maslow's Need Hierarchy Theory, Alderfer's ERG Theory, Adam's Equit Theory, Vroom's Expectancy Theory, motivation through goal setting, 4 motivational mechanisms of goal setting, & practical lessons from goal-setting research.

-Read & be ready to discuss Chapter 9.
