FRIDAY 9/25

TODAY:
-No notecard due.
-Chapter 3 discussion.
-I was in a bad mood today. Could you tell? So, I gave you my infamous "Professional Presentation" speech. Maybe it inspired some of you to continue to be engaged students who care about your education. Maybe it inspired some of you to become better students who should care about your education. Maybe it inspired some of you to quit school and get a job that requires you to wear a paper hat.
-After my sermon, we continued our Chapter 3 discussion. We took a look at the following innovation questions: What do you have to abandon to create room for innovation? Do you systematically seek opportunities? We also began discussing the 7 key sources of opportunity. We will finish these on Monday.

HOMEWORK:
-Notecard.
-Research Topic Proposal due next Wednesday.
-Chapter 4 discussion questions:
1) In your opinion, what are the advantages/disadvantages of group decision making?
2) What are the 3 Drucker questions about collaboration & orchestration (just the 1st question in each group)? Explain what each means.
3) How did Myelin Repair Foundation answer these 3 questions?
4) How is Dell a "pioneer of collaboration?"
5) What makes collaboration tick day to day & move in step with shortened windows of opportunity?

-We began a discussion of Chapter 3. Our discussion focused on the concept of "property law." We will continue this discussion on Wednesday.

HOMEWORK:
-Quiz #1: Chapters 1 & 2

STUDY GUIDE:
Chapter 1
-Be able to identify, explain, & give examples of the 4 types of law that we discussed.
-Be able to explain the 2 fundamental principles of common law that we discussed.
-Be able to give an overview of the 3 court systems that we discussed.
-Be able to explain what a Writ of Certiorari is.
-Be able to identify, explain, & give examples of the 3 types of legal research resources that we discussed.

Chapter 2
-Be able to explain what negligence is.
-Be able to explain what a tort is.
-Be able to identify, explain, & give examples of the 4 elements of negligence and everything we discussed associated with these elements.
-Be able to identify the 3 categories of parties that may be liable.
-Be able to explain the defenses based on common law, contract law, & statutory law that we discussed.
-Be able to identify, explain, & give examples of the 3 instances of a special relationship that we discussed.
-Be able to explain the concept of "mismatching."
-Be able to identify the 5 essential elements of a hostile work environment.
