TODAY:
-Chapter 6 & SBJ article discussion questions due.
-We began a discussion of Chapter 6. Our discussion focused on: the difference between primary usage & ancillary space, the different categories of locker rooms, & the categories of specialty locker rooms.
-We discussed the SBJ article, "Park It!"

HOMEWORK:
-Answer the following Chapter 6 Discussion Questions:
1) What are the 2 key factors to be considered when understanding an organization's work processes? Why?
2) Explain the difference between the front office & the back office.
3) Offices require what 3 basic utilities in order to function?
4) Ancillary spaces should be laid out in response to what 3 things?
5) Why is it not always necessary to provide a large number of showers in secondary-level schools (high schools)?

-Read the following SBJ article, "Bobcats Converting Their Team Store...," on page 14 of the October 11-17 issue and answer the following Discussion Questions:
1) The Charlotte Bobcats will fill almost half of the redesigned team store in their NBA arena with Jordan Brand products for what 2 reasons?
2) What percentage of the inventory available at the store will consist of exclusive Jordan Brand products?
3) What does it mean that the store will have a "store within a store" concept?
4) How many stand-alone Jordan Brand stores are there in the US?
5) Why is Jordan Brand prohibited from making & selling anything worn on the court or player-specific?

HOMEWORK:
-Read Chapter 5 & answer the following Discussion Questions for Thursday:
1) For each of the following play theories (Surplus Energy, Recreation, Relaxation, Compensation, Generalization), complete A, B, & C.
A) Define what the theory states.
B) Give examples of activities that fit into the theory.
C) What are some drawbacks to the theory?

-The following Chapter 5 Discussion Questions are due next Tuesday:
1) Explain Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and how recreational activities can contribute to meeting each of the needs levels.
2) Explain Nash's Pyramid of Leisure, & how recreational activities would be categorized in the pyramid.
