TODAY:
-No new discussion questions were due.
-Thanks to the lovely Internet here we could not finish watching the documentary SuperSize Me, so we discussed the film instead. The PowerPoint is posted on CampusWeb.

HOMEWORK:
-Samantha Hulme will bring in a current event for us to discuss.
-Because we could not finish watching SuperSize Me, the discussion questions will not be due on Tuesday & I will not ask any questions about the film on Exam 1.
-We will finish discussing SuperSize Me at the beginning of class on Tuesday so bring your notes & homework to class in case we have a quiz.

EXAM 1 STUDY GUIDE:
-There will be 3 different types of questions asked on the exam:
1) Definitions. I will give a definition & you will be asked to state the term.
Example
Definition: A state of complete well-being. Answer: Health
2) Question & Answer. I will ask a straight forward question, and you will provide a straight forward answer.
Example
Question: On any give day, nearly 1/2 of Americans do not eat what? Answer: Fruit
3) Short answer. I will ask a question that requires a short, but detailed explanation.

Question: When it comes to fitness & wellness, why do we live in a toxic environment? Answer: There are some negative environmental influences on physical activity like modern-day conveniences, modern-day architecture, sedentary jobs, sedentary leisure, & a lot of our communities do not make physical activities a high priority. There are also some negative environmental influences on diet & nutrition like the overabundance of food, many of our leisure activities are associated with eating, unhealthy food is relatively inexpensive & readily accessible, & food portions have increased substantially in size.
