-We finished discussing Chapter 2.
-We began to discuss Chapter 3 but did not get far.

2) What are Drucker's 4 basic questions about innovation?
3) Pick a company that you think is innovative (other than Apple). Why do you consider the company innovative? What are the company's strengths?

5) How do the companies, Kimberly-Clark & Peapod, exemplify Drucker's concept of systematic abandonment?

-First off, excellent discussion today. If this keeps up, the 4 weeks will fly by!
-Because we ran out of time today, we did not finish our discussion of Chapter 1 nor did we take our first quiz. We will finish Chapter 1 at the beginning of class tomorrow, and as for the quiz I gave it to you as a take home. Please complete it tonight & bring it tomorrow. The Chapter 1 PowerPoint is posted on CampusWeb so feel free to use it to find some of the answers.

4) What are the 4 Drucker questions that a company should answer when connecting with its customer?
5) Drucker says that "there is never only one customer." What does he mean? How do the Girl Scouts of America fit into this?
6) Pick a company and identify its core customer demographic (who accounts for a majority of the company's sales?) Then identify a secondary customer market.
7) What is the online payment business owned by eBay? What is the Internet phone service owned by eBay?
8) Why is it important/helpful for organizations to identify noncustomers?
9) How did Apple figure out that its customers wanted a car charger for the iPod?

-It was nice meeting all of you today. I am looking forward to a fun, and short 4 week semester.
-I handed out the course syllabus. It is also posted on CampusWeb.
-We spent the class period going through personal introductions to get to know one another. I went over expectations for the next 4 weeks.

-Read through the syllabus and come to class tomorrow with any questions that you may have.

2) In your own words (do not look in a dictionary) define "management."
3) In your opinion why has management evolved in the US?
4) What is the Silent Revolution?
5) Summarize what happened during each of the 5 fronts of the Silent Revolution.
6) What are the 3 fastest-growing consumer purchases today?
7) Home Depot passed all its logistics issues off to what company?
8) What innovative group in northern California is trying to find a cure for multiple sclerosis?
9) In Druker's opinion, how did the Americans win the Gulf War in 1991? In his opinion, how will the war on terrorism be won?
